Well if you look around the web you’ll find that a lot of websites that have had SEO services applied to them are missing one very important element and that is the creating of descriptive page names.

Page names are very important for your users especially when it comes to landing on a web page from a search result on Google.

If you user searches for “SEO services in Burlington” and see a search result that displays the page name as ‘www.website.com/services’ the user doesn’t truly know that they’ll find on that page. But if the URL was ‘www.website.com/seo-services.html’ then there would be no doubt that clicking on that link will bring them to a page that offers SEO services, and in the case of this searcher, in the city of Burlington.

I should mention that SEO is NOT about the search engines. SEO is considering people who are searching for your services, your current users and future ones.

This SEO 101 video tutorial about descriptive web page naming will show the HTML newcomer to a. quickly name copies of template pages for web design and b. an example of the right way to name pages so people know what the content is about.
