SEO – Descriptive Title Names

Posted by Dave Lauretti on September 13th, 2009.

The title says it all and this time it really does. The title of your home page and every other page on your website has the option of giving it a title. There are still many business websites here in Burlington and abroad that don’t take advantage of the opportunity to descriptively title your pages. You’re users need it and the search engines like Google need it. It helps Google determine what your page is about and thus can assure searchers that they’ve found a website related to their search.

Here is where the problem comes in. It’s NOT only a matter of giving your web page a title the other matter is writing descriptive titles. Many businesses think the best title for their website is ‘Company Name’. So when a searcher finds a link to your site that says for instance “Sherbers Co.”, do you think they know what’s at the other end of that link? No! And with that they might not click on it. You need to make sure, when you’re web designing your clients site, to make the titles of their web pages descriptive. The right description can be figured out by determining what their pages are about.

If you client is a tanning salon in Burlington then the titles of each page on their website should be something related to titles. Hmmm, maybe Tanning Salon In Burlington? Eureka!
